Ways to care for your vagina, before and after sex, why it's important

It's extremely important to care for your vagina before and after sex. Starting a healthy regime can help prevent things like UTIs and other infections, skin irritation, and unpleasant odors. Nobody wants any of those things if they can be prevented. It's equally important for men and women to clean up after sex. Daily cleaning routines should also be considered if you have sensitive skin and for overall sexual health.

Keep your toys clean and stored properly

Using a gentle cleaner on toys after use, also any other items inserted vaginally or anally during foreplay and intercourse, is one of the first steps in keeping sexually healthy. There are plenty of different toy cleaners to choose from. Sprays, foams, powders, and mild soap with warm water are also effective. Organic options are available, as well as unscented for sensitive skin. It's important for men to care for their penises. Washing after intercourse is equally important amongst the sexes. Men with foreskin should pull the skin back and wash with a personal cleaner or mild soap with warm water. Daily cleaning should be a part of everyone's routine, like washing your face or hands.

Rinse away bacteria and prevent UTIs

Going pee before and after sex helps rinse out any bacteria that may cause an infection. This is not a form of birth control. It doesn't wash away the semen. Only using proper forms of birth control, such as pills and condoms, can prevent pregnancy. Have a discussion with your partner about where you both stand on this subject. If you aren't wanting a pregnancy, it's up to you to protect yourself. Especially if you are sexually active with multiple partners. Take responsibility for your actions, no matter the outcome. Choose wisely.

Healthy you, healthy vagina

Keeping your vagina healthy and happy starts with diet and exercise. Eating a healthy diet of raw fruits, veggies and nuts will keep all of you in tip-top shape. Things like cranberries, sweet potatoes, apples, and probiotics are good for keeping Ph balanced and helping combat UTIs. Apples are even said to help with orgasms. Avocados, leafy greens, and carrots are great additions to your diet for vaginal health. In general, adding raw veggies, fruits, herbs, and nuts to your daily eating is a good idea.

Don't be ashamed of needing an enhancer

At times, we may experience dryness, lack of interest and maybe even have a hard time becoming aroused. There are a million different enhancers on the market. Although it may seem harmless at the time, I advise seeking medical advice before starting a new enhancer. Depending on your medical situation, it may not be in your best interest to use some enhancers on the market. It could result in an allergic reaction or worse. There are some very good natural, organic options out there. Even adding fresh herbs to your diet is known to help with sexual health.

Take care of yourself. Starting from the inside. Feel good about your body, and what you have to offer. Keep your vagina healthy and happy. Yes, it's important to keep our vaginas happy. Not just for you but for your partner, too. You'll thank me later.
